Abstract
Law Book Criminal Law (Penal Code) which is still in force in Indonesia today is one of the hundreds of law rules of the Dutch colonial heritage. This Penal Code came into effect officially in Indonesia since January 1, 1918. But before it imposed the Penal Code of Indonesia actually has to know the rules of criminal law in the life of customary law. Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie (VOC) which had occupied Indonesia in 1602-1799 and the colonial period before 1918 has ever imposed criminal law. The historical journey of criminal law in Indonesia, the material brings its own dynamics and problems that are expected to dijadiklan foothold in the material criminal law reform today.
